On April 13, 2016, at approximately 12:50 p.m., officers were dispatched to a residence in the 1200 block of Stanley Avenue regarding unknown trouble call.
Upon arrival officers found a male adult armed with a knife suffering from an apparent self-inflicted stab wound. The subject was uncooperative and refused officers commands to drop the knife and let them into the residence to check the well being of other possible occupants. Offices showed great restraint when dealing with the armed subject who was not complying with their commands. They had to use less lethal options to take him into custody, and prevented a potential deadly force encounter.
Once officers were able to detain the uncooperative subject they entered the location and found an adult female deceased in another part of the residence from an apparent stab wound to the upper torso.
The victim has been identified as Karina Duch a 40 year-old resident of Los Angeles.
The male subject was transported by Long Beach Fire to a local hospital where he underwent emergency surgery and is listed in critical condition. He is the primary suspect in this incident, and has been identified as Ngounsay Keo a 59 year-old resident of Long Beach. He was booked for 1 count of murder and his bail was set at $2,000,000.00.
The relationship between the victim and the suspect is that they had been involved in a prior dating relationship for approximately 23 years and have two children together, 14 and 7 years of age. The 7 year-old child was next door at the time of the incident and has been united with family and his sibling.
