On Friday, February 21, 2014, at approximately 1:55 p.m., Long Beach Police responded to a shots fired call near 59th Street and Linden Avenue, which resulted in the death of a male adult
When officers arrived, they discovered the victim, identified as 24-year-old Christopher Lane of Long Beach, who had been struck by gunfire in the upper torso. He was transported to a local hospital by Long Beach Fire Department paramedics, and was determined deceased shortly thereafter.
Information gathered through the preliminary investigation indicated that two male Blacks were seen fleeing from the location on foot. A motive for the shooting is unknown, but the incident is being investigated as possibly gang-related.
