60 ARRESTS MADE IN LONG BEACH AS A RESULT OF HUMAN TRAFFICKING OPERATION

The Long Beach Police Department participated in Operation Cross Country over the weekend, cracking down on human traffickers. Operation Cross Country is a nationwide four-day operation initiated by the Federal Bureau of Investigations in collaboration with state and local agencies to rescue victims of human trafficking and arrest the suspects who enslave them.
Detectives from the Long Beach Police Department rescued two female minors and one female adult, and made a total of 60 arrests during the operation. Three arrests were made for human trafficking and three for pimping. The remaining arrests were made for prostitution and drug related offenses.
According to the FBI, 106 cities participated, 168 children who had been forced into prostitution were rescued and 281 pimps were arrested, making it the largest and most successful Operation Cross Country to date.
The Long Beach Police Department would like to thank the FBI, Homeland Security, and the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department for their partnership and assistance during the operation. We would also like to thank the Mary Magdalene Project and Saving Innocence for providing services to the victims during the long hours of the operation.
