Welcome to the LBPD Blotter!
As part of our ongoing commitment to external communications and providing valuable information to our community, the Department will begin posting information about recent police activity, ongoing investigations, and other LBPD updates to the Department’s homepage and on the “News” tab of the Department’s website.
At approximately 10:00 a.m. each day, community members will be able to read preliminary information about incidents that may have occurred the previous evening, including shootings, stabbings, traffic fatality, and murder investigations, as well as any other notable incidents. This page will be a resource for the public to learn more about enforcement efforts, arrests, and commendable events and will be updated as new incidents occur.
Here’s a recap of incidents occurring last night:
- Officers investigate a fatal shooting: On June 3, 2022 at approximately 10:56 p.m., officers were dispatched to 14th Street and Walnut Avenue regarding a hit shooting. Upon arrival, officers located a male adult victim who sustained gunshot wounds to the upper body and a female adult victim who sustained gunshot wounds to the upper and lower body. Officers rendered aid until the Long Beach Fire Department arrived on scene and transported both victims to local hospitals. The female victim is in stable condition at a local hospital. The male victim was later pronounced deceased at a local hospital. The suspect(s) fled the scene prior to officers arrival. Detectives responded and the investigation is ongoing.
- Officers investigate a non-fatal shooting: On June 3, 2022 at approximately 8:25 p.m., officers were dispatched to the beach bike path near the 2100 block of East Ocean Boulevard. Upon arrival, officers located a male adult victim who sustained a gunshot wound to the upper body. Officers rendered aid until the Long Beach Fire Department arrived on scene and transported the victim to a local hospital. The victim is in critical condition at a local hospital. The suspect fled the scene prior to officers arrival. Detectives responded and the investigation is ongoing.
- Officers investigate a non-fatal stabbing: On June 3, 2022 at approximately 7:22 p.m., officers were dispatched to the 200 block of West Anaheim Street regarding non-injury traffic collision. Officers’ investigation led them to the 500 block of West 14th Street where they contacted a male adult victim suffering from multiple stab wounds to the upper body. Officers rendered aid to the male victim until the Long Beach Fire Department arrived on scene. LBFD transported the male victim to a local hospital where he is in stable condition. Preliminary investigation revealed the victim was engaged in a dispute with three male suspects, when the stabbing occurred. During the altercation, one suspect stabbed the victim and another suspect physically assaulted the victim. The investigation is ongoing.
