Welcome to the LBPD Blotter!
As part of our ongoing commitment to external communications and providing valuable information to our community, the Department will begin posting information about recent police activity, ongoing investigations, and other LBPD updates to the Department’s homepage and on the “News” tab of the Department’s website.
At approximately 10:00 a.m. each day, community members will be able to read preliminary information about incidents that may have occurred the previous evening, including shootings, stabbings, traffic fatality, and murder investigations, as well as any other notable incidents. This page will be a resource for the public to learn more about enforcement efforts, arrests, and commendable events and will be updated as new incidents occur.
Here’s a recap of incidents occurring last night:
- Officers determine shots call at Wilson High School Unfounded - This morning at approximately. 11:17 am, officers responded to Wilson High School regarding a reported shots call. Upon arrival, officers conducted a safety sweeps of the school grounds, located evidence of pyrotechnics, and determined the shots call to be unfounded. No injuries were reported and at this time, there are no active threats to the school grounds. The investigation is ongoing.
- Hit Shooting in the 900 block of Martin Luther King Jr Avenue. Today, at approximately 4:32 a.m., officers were dispatched to the 900 block of Martin Luther King Jr Avenue regarding an assault with a deadly weapon call. Upon arrival, officers a contacted a male adult victim with non-life-threatening gunshot wounds to the lower body. Long Beach Fire Department personnel responded to the scene and transported the victim to a local hospital for his injuries. Preliminary investigation suggests that the victim was in the 900 block of Martin Luther King Jr Avenue when he was approached by an unknown number of suspects in a vehicle, who subsequently discharged a firearm in his direction, striking the victim. The suspects fled in an unknown direction prior to officers arriving on the scene. No other injuries were reported. Officers located evidence, including bullet casings, which indicated a shooting occurred. Suspect(s) information nor the motive for the shooting is known. The investigation is ongoing.
- Unfounded Crime Scene Connected to Gunshot Victim. On April 3, 2022 at approximately 10:32 p.m., officers were dispatched to a local hospital regarding a shooting victim. Upon arrival, officers contacted a male adult victim with non-life-threatening gunshot wounds to the lower body, who refused to provide a statement of the incident, nor cooperate with the investigation. Officers were unable to locate a crime scene in connection to the victim. The investigation is ongoing.
