LBPD Arrests Suspect for March 16 shooting

Release Date: 2022-03-17

On March 16, 2022 at approximately 10:37 a.m., officers responded to a local hospital regarding a shooting victim who had walked in. The victim told officers he was driving in the area of 67th Street and Atlantic Avenue, stopped and waiting to make a turn, when he heard gunshots and felt glass strike him. The victim was not struck by gunfire but did sustain non-life-threatening injuries related to glass shattering in his vehicle. He fled the area and drove to the hospital.

Additional officers and Gang detectives canvassed the area described by the victim and located video evidence of the shooting. Through their investigation, detectives identified the suspect as Rashad Bolling, a 42-year-old resident of Long Beach. Later that afternoon, detectives located Bolling in the city of Torrance and arrested him. He was booked into Long Beach City Jail for attempted murder, prohibited possessor in possession of a firearm, prohibited possessor in possession of ammunition, carrying a loaded firearm – not registered owner, and obstructing/resisting. He is being held on $2,000,000 bail. Bolling was in possession of a firearm at the time of his arrest.

Officers from the Coordinated Response Team (CRT) and North Division Directed Enforcement Team (DET) as well as Gang detectives served a search warrant on Bolling’s vehicle and residence in the 1300 block of Redondo Avenue. During this search warrant service, LBPD personnel recovered an additional three firearms as well as high-capacity magazines and ammunition.

Great work by officers, detectives, CRT, and DET for their quick investigative work, leading to the arrest of a dangerous suspect and seizure of four firearms!
