South Patrol Division Commander

Commander Justin Krueger began his career with the Long Beach Police Department as a police officer in 2003. He promoted to sergeant in 2019, to lieutenant in 2022, and to commander in 2026.

Commander Krueger has worked a variety of assignments, including patrol, Special Weapons and Tactics, regional Special Weapons and Tactics taskforce, Patrol Sergeant, Patrol Lieutenant, and Gangs and Violent Crime Lieutenant. Before his promotion, he served as the Internal Affairs Lieutenant within the Professional Standards Division. He is also actively involved with leading the Department’s efforts in peer support and employee wellness.

Commander Krueger holds an Associate Degree in Arts and Humanities as well as an associate's degree in Criminal Justice from Golden West Community College. He is the recipient of the Long Beach Police Department’s Meritorious Award for Heroism, the California Robbery Investigator’s Association Officer of the Year award and most recently the Richard Rose Career Achievement Award. Commander Krueger also served as a Director for the Long Beach Police Officers Association.
