Eric Fernandez
South Patrol Division Commander
Commander Eric Fernandez began his career with the Long Beach Police Department as a police officer in 2006. He promoted to sergeant in 2015 and to lieutenant in 2020.
Commander Fernandez has worked a variety of assignments including Patrol, Field Training Officer, Bicycle Team Officer, Patrol Resource Officer, Arrest and Control Tactics Instructor, Sex Crimes Detail Detective, Internal Affairs Sergeant, Patrol Lieutenant, and Training Division Lieutenant. Most recently, he served as the Robbery-Homicide Section Lieutenant.
Commander Fernandez is a graduate of the University of Southern California Price Executive Leadership Program and a member of the California Homicide Officers Association. Throughout his career, he has attended over 250 community events. He is the recipient of multiple Long Beach Police Department Unit Citations and the prestigious Chief’s Community Policing Award for his dedication to serving the community.
