
Darren Lance
Port Police Division Commander
Commander Darren Lance began his career with
the Long Beach Police Department as a Public Services Assistant at the Business Desk and Gang Enforcement Section. He graduated from the Police Academy in 2002 and was promoted to the rank of sergeant in 2012, to lieutenant in 2017, and to commander in 2021.
Commander Lance has served in various assignments throughout his career, including Patrol, Field Training Officer, Directed Enforcement Team, Bicycle Team Sergeant, and Downtown Entertainment District Sergeant. Prior to being promoted to Commander, he was assigned as the Internal Affairs Lieutenant, where he managed the Division and provided training to supervisory staff on both internal affairs and use of force investigations.
In addition, Commander Lance holds a Bachelor of Science Degree in Business Administration from the University of the Pacific. He has been presented with several Department awards throughout his career, including a Distinguished Service Award.
