Information
The Sleepy Hollow Greenbelt spans the land below an elevated Union Pacific Railroad right of way along 47th Street between Long Beach Boulevard and Rio Avenue through a wedge-shaped neighborhood to a drainage channel leading the Los Angeles River.
The Virginia Country Club golf course is located along the southern end of the neighborhood next to the greenbelt.
The greenbelt also runs between Long Beach Boulevard and Del Amo Boulevard for a short distance along 49th Street.
History
In 1994 Union Pacific expanded service to the Ports of Los Angles and Long Beach. The Port of Long Beach acquired the right-of-way land, and installed noise buffers and landscaping. When the right-of-way was landscaped, this created a greenbelt, maintained by Parks, Recreation and Marine.
