Promenade Square is an open space area that serves downtown residents. The park is at the southern end of a six-block long thoroughfare. The parks offer open space and a tot lot that includes a slide, climbing structures and rocks, and he Promenade is a six block long thoroughfare in the heart of Downtown Long Beach playground safety surfacing. The design will complement the design elements of Promenade Square Park and The Promenade.
The total project cost is $192,000, and is supported with $75,000 in one-time infrastructure funds from the Office of former Vice Mayor Suja Lowenthal; $20,000 from Los Angeles County Supervisor Don Knabe; $10,000 from the Downtown Long Beach Associates; $7,300 raised by the Promenade Area Residents Association; and $5,000 from the Molina Family Trust.
History
A new tot lot opened to the community on December 17, 2016 and became the first playground in the downtown area. The park is on the site of the former Long Beach Downtown outdoor Amphitheatre.
