Information

This 5.28 acre- stretch of land is adjacent to Los Cerritos Channel. It is a popular spot for strolling and jogging.

History

This park is located west on the west bank of the Los Cerritos Channel, from Loynes Drive to 7th Street. This long linear park was acquired as an extension of Palo Verde Avenue, but when Palo Verde was concluded north of 7th Street in the early 1960's, this area was improved as a park with turf, trees, benches and a walking path. A bicycle overpass across 7th Street was added in the early 1980's by the developers of several projects as required by the SEADIP Plan.  A new playground opened in November 2020 that was advocated by the University Park Estates Neighborhood and financially supported by the Alamitos Energy Center.
