Approved by the City Council and recommended by the Army Corps of Engineers, the City of Long Beach Department of Parks, Recreation & Marine’s Annual Peninsula Beach Rebuilding Project will fortify the beach along the East Peninsula. This annual program runs from September 1 - March 15 as needed to protect public and private property.

PROJECT DATES:
September 12, 2017 through September 26, 2017
7:30 AM TO 4:00 PM

Process:
Staff will utilize bulldozers, articulated dump trucks and loaders to fill and haul sand from west of 54th place to rebuild section of the beach (63 – 67 Place and at the 72 Place Jetty) were the currents have a greater impact, requiring replenishment.

Method of Sand Placement:
Equipment will transport sand from source to delivery site, where bulldozers will spread sand seaward to widen the beach and prepare the berm for this time of season. This year, we will be testing a new method utilizing a roller vibrator on the berm for compaction.
