Tree Maintenance
Parks Recreation and Marine is currently removing dead or dying trees in City parks that pose a danger to park visitors. Priority tree removals are near high park activity areas such as playgrounds, picnic areas, fitness equipment, walkways, parking areas, and facilities. Arborist inventory inspections have highlighted the basis of why trees that may look fine, but upon close inspection, show signs of root rot, splitting forked trunks, disease-weakened tree structure and other facts necessitating removal.
See tree fact sheet, park tree inventory reports and nesting surveys for more information.
Park Ambassador Program
The Bureau supports clean and safe restrooms in parks. A Park Ambassador team allows for greater staff coverage to address park restroom health and safety in 35 parks throughout the City that have a total of 55 free standing restrooms. See list here of restrooms and gates that are locked every evening after 10 p.m.
Park patrons are encouraged to assist park staff by reporting maintenance issues. Calls to PRM Maintenance Operations staff can be made at 562.570.4895 Monday through Friday between 7:30 a.m. and 3:30 p.m. Residents can also download the Go Long Beach app in Apple and Android formats, and report graffiti, potholes, and maintenance issues online.
