Veterans day celebration

The City of Long Beach annually holds a celebration in honor of Veterans Day to recognize our local Veterans who stood in defense of our country.

2023 VETERANS DAY celebration

The City of Long Beach proudly presents the 2023 Veterans Day Celebration to honor those who have served and are currently serving in the United States military. The free, family-friendly festival will take place on Saturday, Nov. 11, 2023, from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. at Houghton Park (6301 Myrtle Ave.)

This year’s Veterans Day Celebration also features a veteran's resource fair with over 35 participating organizations, live musical entertainment, flyovers with historic aircrafts (presented by Long Beach City College), a kid zone, food trucks and beer garden, and more. The complete schedule of events includes:
  • 11 a.m. – Flyover, followed by “Discovering LBCC” with Long Beach City College Area 1 Trustee Uduak-Joe Ntuk  
  • All Day – DJ sets and emcee by Mr. Quick
  • Noon – The Satin Dollz live musical performance
  • 12:45 p.m. – Flyover, followed by Veterans Recognition Ceremony
  • 1:15 p.m. – The Satin Dollz live musical performance
  • 2 p.m. – Flyover
  • 2:25 p.m. – Flyover
  • 2:30 p.m. – Knight Ryder live musical performance
  • 3 p.m. – Flyover, followed by Knight Ryder live musical performance

Veterans Recognition Ceremony Honorees
The Veterans Recognition Ceremony, taking place at the main stage at 12:45 p.m., will feature special presentations by Mayor Rex Richardson, Ninth District Councilmember Dr. Jodi Ricks-Oddie, Seventh District Councilman Roberto Uranga, the Long Beach Veterans Day Committee and other local elected representatives who will present awards to four individuals and organizations who have shown exemplary dedication to serving the local veterans community. This year’s honorees include: 
  • Reverend Doctor O. Leon Wood, Junior, “2023 Veterans Day Celebration Grand Marshal”
  • April Parker Foundation, “Outstanding Community Organization”
  • Veterans Stand Together, “Outstanding Community Organization”
  • Juanita Wilson, “Outstanding Volunteer”
