Long Beach Offering Community Learning Hubs and Mobile Recess Programs to Provide Safe and Engaging Recreation for Youth After School

The City of Long Beach Department of Parks, Recreation and Marine (PRM) will once again offer its Community Learning Hubs and Mobile Recess Programs this fall. The Community Learning Hubs Program offers enriching after-school activities for Long Beach Unified School District (LBUSD) students ages 5 to 14. . The Mobile Recess Program offers safe, supervised spaces for youth to play. PRM staff provide supplies and equipment to conduct recreation activities for youth ages 5 to 14 (grades K-8), including physical fitness, games, and arts and crafts. View full press release here.

The City of Long Beach has launched a Request for Proposals (RFP) seeking a vendor to provide a micro-shuttle service to support tourism, businesses and local revenue generation. The selected vendor will pilot an on-demand and fixed-route pick-up and drop-off electric-powered shuttle service for business districts, amenities, services and businesses in the Belmont Shore/Alamitos Bay and Downtown/Alamitos Beach neighborhoods to better circulate visitors throughout each service area. Now until 11 a.m. on May 25, 2022, eligible vendors are encouraged to submit proposals through the City’s Vendor Portal, PlanetBids. View press release here.
