LONG BEACH, CA — JetZero, a major Long Beach-based aviation company designing and building blended wing body aircraft, announced today a $235 million contract awarded to the company by the United States Air Force to develop a fuel efficient airliner. The company will receive the funds over four years through the Department of Defense’s Defense Innovation Unit.

Long Beach Mayor Rex Richardson issued the following statement:

“Long Beach-based JetZero is designing a revolutionary aircraft that has the potential to transform the way we fly while reducing our environmental impact,’’ said Mayor Rex Richardson. “JetZero is a success story for Long Beach. Their investment in our city will create hundreds of high paying jobs, boost our economy, and add to our city’s profile as a leader in cutting-edge aerospace technology and manufacturing.”
