LONG BEACH, CA – Today, Mayor Rex Richardson released the following statement regarding recent reports connected to the LA28 leadership and the 2028 Olympic and Paralympic Games:
“The 2028 Games are an opportunity to highlight the very best of our region — integrity, equity, and a long-term legacy that benefits our communities. The reports connected to the Epstein files are deeply troubling, serious, and incompatible with the standard of leadership this moment demands. They are a distraction from a mission that should unite and inspire our region.
While the LA28 Board has chosen to maintain its current leadership, as a partner city, I will continue holding these Games to the standard our community expects.”
