LONG BEACH, CA — The Mayor’s Fund for Long Beach and Mayor Rex Richardson are proud to announce a holiday benefit concert to support Long Beach Unified School District Jordan High
School’s music programs and their upcoming performances at Carnegie Hall in New York City in
2024. The concert will take place on December 14, 2023, from 7:00-8:30 p.m. at the Beverly
O’Neill Theatre in Long Beach. Southwest Airlines has generously agreed to serve as the title
sponsor for the event, donating all flight vouchers for the more than 75 students who will travel
to perform (an estimated value of $32,000).

“I am thrilled to support our talented Jordan High School music students as they prepare to
perform at Carnegie Hall,” said Mayor Rex Richardson. “This is a transformational opportunity to
inspire future generations of musicians. I am proud to partner with Southwest Airlines and the
Mayors Fund for Long Beach to ensure that these students have the resources they need to
make this dream a reality.”

The benefit concert will feature performances by the Jordan High School Band, Orchestra, and
Choir.

Tickets will go on sale for the event on Thursday, December 7th at

Proceeds from the concert will go toward the Jordan High School music programs to help offset
the cost of hotel accommodations, educational workshops, and other expenses related to the
Carnegie Hall performance.

“Southwest Airlines is proud to support the Jordan High School music programs and their
upcoming performance at Carnegie Hall,” said Laura Nieto, Managing Director Corporate
Responsibility, at Southwest Airlines. “We believe in connecting people to what is important in
their lives, and we are committed to helping these talented students achieve this dream.”

“We are incredibly grateful for Mayor Richardson’s support, the Mayor’s Fund for Long Beach,
and for the wonderful generosity of Southwest Airlines,” said Keisha Irving, Principal of Jordan High School. “This benefit concert will make a significant impact on our students’ ability to travel to New York City and share their musical talents on a national stage.”

Additional sponsorship opportunities for the benefit concert are still available to give these
deserving students an experience they will never forget. For details, please contact Karissa
