Celebrate Pride Month

For many years, the month of June has been nationally recognized as a time to celebrate the history and achievements of the LGBTQIA+ community. Each LBPL Pride activity will highlight the importance of visibility through history, culture, art, storytelling or film. Our Pride Month highlights include the below events:

Wednesday, June 14 at 4 PM - Michelle Obama Library
LBPL is partnering with the Women’s, Gender and Sexuality Department at California State University Long Beach to offer Zine workshops for teens. The workshop will include supplies and instructions on how participants can create their own Pride-themed DIY and digital zines.
Pride Loteria with Kay Sedia
Friday, June 9 at 5:30 PM - Los Altos Library
Participants of all ages will play a Pride-themed Loteria game hosted by the fabulous Drag Queen, Kay Sedia. Additional activities will include a photo booth, coloring and dancing.
The Passionate Pursuit of Angela Bowen

Dr. Jennifer Abod will discuss the life and contributions of Dr. Angela Bowen with the LGBTQIA+ community with a screening of her documentary, The Passionate Pursuit of Angela Bowen, followed by a Q&A.
