As of July 1, 2025, the Long Beach Public Library offers New York Times (NYTimes) Cooking, Games, Audio, The Athletic, and Wirecutter, in addition to the online news (1851–present).

Experience all of the New York Times products using NYTimes.com or the NYTimes app!

  • News: Global reporting, commentary, culture, and much more, including audio and video.
  • Games: Spelling Bee, Wordle, an archive of over 10,000 crosswords, and more.
  • Cooking: Thousands of recipes, guides for all skill levels, plus advice and inspiration daily.
  • Audio: Podcasts and narrated articles covering a range of topics, read by the journalists who reported them.
  • Wirecutter: Independent product recommendations based on real-world testing.
  • The Athletic: In-depth, personalized sports coverage of your favorite teams and leagues.

Using NYTimes Outside of the Library

  1. Visit the Digital Library, then scroll down to the New York Times.
  2. Click on the NYTimes logo or "Access Resource" button.
  3. Redeem the code, then sign in to your NYTimes account.
  4. Get 72 hours of access via web browser or mobile app. Repeat as needed.

Using NYTimes at the Library

  1. Connect to the Library’s public WiFi or use one of the public computers.
  2. Visit NYTimes.com.
  3. Sign in to your NYTimes account. You'll automatically gain access via browser.
