Grand Reopening of Bay Shore Library
Join us on Saturday, Jan. 11, 2025 to celebrate the grand reopening of Bay Shore Neighborhood Library! After temporarily closing for renovations in fall 2023, Bay Shore Library is ready to welcome back the community to an improved and more accessible and vibrant space.
Grand Reopening Celebration, Jan. 11
The celebration will kick off with a ribbon-cutting ceremony at 9:30 AM, followed by family-friendly programs:
- a performance by Christopher T. Magician at 10:30 AM
- children’s storytime at 12:00 PM
- and all-day arts and crafts activities for participants of all ages
Upgrades to Bay Shore Library
Bay Shore Library received extensive upgrades to provide a more welcoming, accessible, and engaging environment for patrons. Renovations were made as part of the Bay Shore Branch Library renovation project, which is partially funded through Measure A, to beautify the mid-century building, enhance visitor experience and infrastructure quality, and extend the life of the public facility.
Updates include:
- new energy-efficient windows offering breathtaking views of Alamitos Bay
- ADA accessibility improvements, including a front entrance ramp and automatic doors
- interior enhancements, such as new carpeting and updated shelving in the children’s area
New 6-Day Service Hours at Bay Shore
In addition to the physical upgrades, Bay Shore Library will be open 6 days a week beginning Monday, Jan. 13, 2025.
Bay Shore Library Hours
- Mondays from 12:00–7:00 PM
- Tuesdays, Thursdays, Fridays, and Saturdays from 10:00 AM–5:00 PM
- Wednesdays from 12:00–6:00 PM
With Bay Shore’s reopening, as of Dec. 31, 2024 the Alamitos Neighborhood Library has resumed its 5-day service schedule.

- Tuesdays and Thursdays from 12:00–7:00 PM
- Wednesdays from 12:00–6:00 PM
- Fridays and Saturdays from 10:00 AM–5:00 PM
