Tech To-Go
You can borrow Chromebooks and MiFi hotspots! Check out one device or both for up to 3 weeks.
Patrons must be 18 years or older and have a full-access library card with fines under $20.
How to Borrow
- Review the Lending Agreement.
- Place the device you want on hold.
- Use the Library catalog to place a Chromebook or MiFi on hold or by calling your pickup library location.
- Pick the device up at the library.
- Take your library card with you and pick up the Tech To-Go device at the check out desk.
- Check that all items are in the bag or box and working.
- Let staff know immediately if something is missing or not working.
You can call your nearest LBPL location to place a device on hold or place a hold online through the library catalog.
Borrowers must be 18 years or older with a full access library card and have less than $20 in fees. If you don't have a card, you can easily sign up for a library card by bringing a photo ID and proof of your California address to any LBPL location.
Parents or guardians are responsible for the Internet information selected and/or accessed by their children.
Items can be checked out for 3 weeks and renewed up to 4 times. Once an item is overdue, the Library may deactivate the device. Items that are 21 days overdue will be billed at the full replacement cost.
Items must be returned during open hours and may be returned to any location.
Do not return these items in book drops. Items returned in the book drop or not returned directly to Library staff will result in suspension of Tech To-Go borrowing privileges.
Patrons can check out a Chromebook and MiFi together, just a Chromebook, or just a MiFi.
Please contact the Library immediately if your device is lost. Patrons will be responsible for the full replacement cost.
It is free to borrow a device! But, if it is not returned, the person who checked it out will be charged the full replacement cost. Be sure to check out that information in the lending agreement.
There is no data limit on either the Student Mifi or the Full-Access Mifi.
The Library respects a person's right to privacy. We trust that our patrons will use the devices in a lawful manner that does not violate the Library's Code of Conduct. The Library does not view, use, share, or save any information from the use of the Chromebooks or the MiFis.
