"Long Beach boasts a rich legacy of arts, culture and music, and what better way to celebrate this than by greeting travelers with the sounds of our own local talents who embody the cultural heartbeat of our city," said Mayor Rex Richardson. "LGB Live! reflects our commitment to investing in and growing our live music brand and identity and sets the perfect tone at our award-winning Long Beach Airport by sharing the vibrant culture that makes Long Beach special."
The expanded LGB Live!, kicks off Thursday, March 27 with a performance by Acoustic Soul Express and will feature performances from professional artists and acclaimed youth performers whose music will fill the Airport’s award-winning indoor-outdoor concourse. Selected artists include the Cabrillo, Millikan, Long Beach Polytechnic and Wilson high school bands, as well as the nonprofit Jazz Angels.
LGB Live! performances are typically held post-security for ticketed travelers from 3 to 5 p.m. on Thursdays and Fridays and 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Sundays, with additional shows during busy travel seasons. Exact showtimes, along with information about pre-security performances, are available at the newly launched lgb.org/music. Stay tuned for more exciting updates and new performance times.
“Whether you’re departing, arriving, or just passing through, Long Beach Airport is proud to present some of the rich musical talent of our Long Beach community,” said Airport Director Cynthia Guidry. “LGB Live! is another way that our Airport provides a cool, easygoing travel experience.”
Musicians selected and paid to perform at LGB Live! are evaluated based on genre, volume and style, with preference given to local artists. Music must be family-friendly and enhance the passenger experience. Interested musicians can learn about the selection process on LGB’s website.
