A Musical Welcome to LGB

Long Beach Airport invites travelers to experience the rhythm of LGB Live!

This special program fills Long Beach Airport’s award-winning indoor-outdoor concourse with live music by professional artists and acclaimed youth performers, including the Cabrillo, Poly, Millikan and Wilson high school bands, as well as the nonprofit Jazz Angels. Creating a uniquely welcoming and vibrant travel experience, LGB Live! adds a joyful note to your journey.

This year, LGB Live! is quadrupling from 40 to more than 160 annual live performances by talented local artists, with a kick-off concert set for Thursday, March 27 with a performance from Acoustic Soul Express.

LGB Live! performances are typically held post-security for ticketed travelers, generally take place from 3 to 5 p.m. on Thursdays and Fridays and 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Sundays, with some additional shows expected at other times.

Because most of our LGB Live! shows take place in our concourse post-security, please note that only ticketed passengers are allowed in the concourse. Please see our calendar for more details and exceptions.

Whether you’re departing, arriving, or just passing through, Long Beach Airport is proud to present rich musical talent of our Long Beach community.

Our artist list will be expanded to include more musicians during the first enhanced season of LGB Live!

Cabrillo High School
Long Beach Unified School District Groups
Through our partnership with Long Beach Unified School District, LGB Live! features several music groups from local high schools. Historically, we’ve welcomed the Panjammers from Cabrillo, jazz bands from Millikan and Wilson, and an all-star group of performers across multiple schools who return to serenade travelers.

Hedgehog Swing
Benj, Kully and Gage are Long Beach natives who, with their powers combined, form the gypsy jazz quartet Hedgehog Swing. With praise from esteemed scientist Bill Nye the Science Guy and travelers alike, Hedgehog Swing is ready to help you get your groove on as you stroll to your gate or baggage claim.
Performer Application Guidelines

Are you a local musician? Long Beach Airport regularly evaluates prospective LGB Live! performers based on genre, volume, and style. Performances must be suitable as family-friendly background music that enhances the passenger experience and reinforces LGB’s easygoing brand. All talent are welcome to apply, although we give special consideration to local artists or those who graduated from Long Beach educational institutions.

If selected to perform, musicians are paid $500 for a two-hour set and should be responsive about submitting necessary documents, arriving on time, and working well with Airport staff and volunteers.

Due to space constraints, LGB Live! can typically only accommodate performance groups of three people or less. Larger groups will need to perform pre-security.

Applicants with good vibes are invited to submit a minimum of two videos of performances from the last five years so that our committee can evaluate the quality and fit with our program. Please do not send attachments; only links are accepted (ex. YouTube, Instagram, Google Drive). There are limited slots available, and the performance must enhance the travel experience and match the easygoing vibe at our airport.  Please submit to lgbarpt@longbeach.gov.

Please note that we receive more applications than we have space available.
