“A Flight to History” Centennial Commemoration Mural

Long Beach Airport (LGB) is commemorating its centennial year with the addition of a new public art installation.

The large vinyl mural, "A Flight to History," by renowned Southern California-based artist Marconi, is now on display on the façade of one of the Airport’s parking structures. The colorful mural on Parking Structure A, closest to the Historic Terminal, was officially unveiled Wednesday, Nov. 29, days after the Airport’s official anniversary on Sunday, Nov. 26. Through a nationwide call for art submissions, Marconi's work was selected from a pool of nearly 100 applicants in partnership with the Arts Council of Long Beach. Marconi's piece is a visual journey through time, featuring the iconic Historic Terminal at its core, surrounded by a tapestry of airplanes and local attractions that define Long Beach's vibrancy and uniqueness.

Smaller works by five runner-up artists are displayed in a special post-security temporary exhibit in the North and South Concourses.
