Recycle Your Textiles Event
Release Date: 2025-12-11
Drop off unwanted textiles for recycling and remaking!
Long Beach residents are invited to drop off unwanted textiles such as clothing, towels and light blankets, even items with rips, stains or holes, at a one-day Recycle Your Textiles Event:
Saturday, January 31, 2026
10 a.m. to 2 p.m. (or until capacity is reached)
The City is partnering with SUAY, a local closed-loop recycling company, to collect unwanted textiles at no cost. The textiles collected will be recycled and remade into new products, diverting them from landfills.
The City is utilizing grant funds to host the one-time event as part of its commitment to promoting sustainability by reducing waste through recycling and remaking.
Accepted Items:
- Clothing
- Towels
- Light blankets
Rips, stains, and holes are ok.
Items we cannot accept:
- Undergarments (socks, bras, underwear)
- Sheets, pillowcases, duvets
- Stuffed items (pillows, comforters)
- Animal furs
- Children’s clothing
This is a textile drop-off event for recycling and remaking, not a charity drive. Residents with new or gently used, high-quality clothing and textiles are encouraged to donate them to a local charitable organization or shelter instead. For recommendations, see the City’s Donation Guide.
A maximum of two standard 13-gallon bags of textiles will be accepted per person. Collection will take place on-site from 10 a.m. until 2 p.m., or until capacity is reached.
Event flyer: English, Spanish, Khmer, and Tagalog.
