Permitting/Planning
The City of Long Beach has launched a new Home Improvement Roof Grant Program (HIRGP), which will provide eligible owner-occupied, single family residence property owners with up to $20,000 in grant funding for the rehabilitation or replacement of their home roof. The goal of the HIRGP is to improve the quality of life for very low-income property owners, specifically those on a fixed income, such as older adults, by helping homeowners acquire a safe and code compliant roof.
To qualify, properties must be located within the Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) area of Long Beach. Please see the map below for eligibility.
Home Improvement Roof Grants CANNOT be applied retroactively, as they are not intended for reimbursement. Construction should NOT begin until you receive a Notice to Proceed from the Program Coordinator. Any construction started prior to receiving a Notice to Proceed will result in the closeout of your application and you will no longer be eligible to participate in the Program.
