The Behavioral Insight Team

The Behavioural Insights Team (BIT) is a social purpose company. BIT are jointly owned by the UK Government; Nesta (the innovation charity). BIT redesigns public services and drawing on ideas from the behavioural science literature. BIT are also highly empirical; They test and trial these ideas before they are scaled up. This enables us to understand what works and (importantly) what does not work.

Cities of Service is a national nonprofit organization that helps mayors build stronger cities by changing the way local government and citizens work together. Cities of Service coalition cities tap into the knowledge, creativity, and service of their citizens to help identify and solve pressing local challenges.

THE KNIGHT FOUNDATION

This is a major national organization, who is interested in creating experiments in civic engagements and in public spaces. To do this, they incubate and seed fund creative solutions to civic challenges, like solutions that create interaction within communities who don’t normally work together.


UNIVERSITY OF CALIFORNIA LOS ANGELES

In partnership with UCLA School of Public Affairs, graduate students earning a Master’s degree in Social Welfare (MSW) work directly with the i-team. This internship experience provides students with valuable professional development experience in innovative methods.

For this partnership, we pitch public policy or operations challenges to teams of graduate students, who implement a program evaluation-like methodology and perform a semester-long study, ending with specific recommendations.
