The 2022 Long Beach Homeless Count will take place on February 24, 2022. This Point-in-Time (PIT) Count is a communitywide effort to count and survey unsheltered people experiencing homelessness in our community. It is vital for determining the scope of homelessness, defining existing resources available, and identifying gaps.

The City of Long Beach is seeking 250 volunteers to help conduct the 2022 PIT Count. We invite you to join us for a hands-on opportunity to hear directly from people experiencing homelessness and partner in improving the services and solutions we offer.

See the Press Release to learn more.

Register now to be a volunteer for the 2022 Long Beach Homeless Count.
To volunteer for the PIT Count, people must meet the following criteria:
  • be 18 years or older;
  • attend a virtual orientation and training prior to the day of the count; and
  • commit to a three- to four-hour canvassing shift on February 24.
To learn more, please download the Homeless Count flyer. Any volunteers registering after 250 individuals have registered will be added to a waitlist.

All volunteers will report to The Grand at 4101 E Willow Street, Long Beach, CA 90815. Parking on-site will be available.

The City of Long Beach is also seeking donations to support this effort, including incentives for those being surveyed. This could include funds for gift cards, small gift cards of $5-$10, travel-sized hygiene supplies, and socks.

To financially contribute towards Count incentives, please donate online at Mayor’s Fund to End Homelessness and type “Homeless Count - Mayor's Fund” in the Additional Comments box. You can also donate by check. Check donations may be mailed to Long Beach Community Foundation, 400 Oceangate, Suite 800, Long Beach, CA 90802. Please make check payable to “Long Beach Community Foundation” and write “Homeless Count - Mayor's Fund” in the memo section of your check.

Your tax-deductible donation will be used towards gift cards and other incentives for individuals being surveyed on the day of the Count.
