Comprehensive Perinatal Services Program (CPSP)
The Comprehensive Perinatal Services Program (CPSP) was established in 1987 and was implemented by the Department of Health Services to reduce morbidity and mortality rates among low-income women and their infants. CPSP provides health care services to Medi-Cal eligible pregnant women from the moment of conception up to two months postpartum.
Goals
- To decrease the incidence of low birth weight in infants.
- To improve the outcome of every pregnancy.
- To give every baby a healthy start in life.
- To lower health care costs by preventing catastrophic illness in infants and children.
