The Long Beach Department of Health and Human Services, Bureau of Environmental Health is responsible for protecting the public health by preventing diseases, unsanitary conditions, exposure to toxic substances, and by eliminating environmental hazards in the community. This is accomplished through routine and complaint-driven inspections, enforcement of municipal, state and federal laws, and community outreach and education.
