Mental health, like physical health, is an important part of our overall health. Mental health is not simply the lack of a mental health condition or any struggle. Rather, it is made up of our emotional, psychological and social well-being. Our mental health can be shaped by different factors, such as our own biology, family history and life experiences. It also affects how our bodies feel, how we act and how we keep up with our social relationships.
Our mental health experience is different from one person to the next. At every stage of our lives, from early childhood through older adulthood, our mental health evolves and changes. At some point, you might need help from a professional to improve your mental health, the same way you might need a professional to improve your physical health.
