The Long Beach Department of Health and Human Services (Health Department) celebrates diversity and equality for all through its annual Black History Month Celebration. The Black History Month theme for this year is “Black Resistance”.  Historical perspectives, current events, and positive future outcomes continue to motivate and inspire Black Americans to fight for “freedom, justice, and equality”, “self-determination”, and “social transformation”.
