Beginning in late 2021, the City of Long Beach’s Department of Health and Human Services (Health Department) created a Health Equity Investment Framework to distribute recovery funds centering communities with the greatest health disparities highlighted by COVID-19. The Health Department sought to create an investment model that would center community, speak to multiple stakeholder groups, amplify strategic planning and encourage a neighborhood-level approach to capacity building.
The goals of the Framework include:
- Creating a model which serves to align investments with strategic plans and needs assessments.
- Driving investments that make a positive impact on population health outcomes through addressing health inequities.
- Strategically aligning with the City of Long Beach's Racial Equity and Reconciliation Initiative.
