Continental Crosswalks
Continental crosswalks are high-visibility roadway markings using thick vertical striping. Studies show that motorists are more likely to yield to pedestrians in continental crosswalks as compared to traditional crosswalks with just two parallel lines. Most continental crosswalks have white markings, while yellow crosswalks denote a nearby K-12 school. The Arts Council of Long Beach has a great catalog of the City's creative crosswalks, which feature artistic designs and patterns.
