Despite the heroic efforts of doctors and nurses at the hospital, Fire Captain David Rosa succumbed to his injuries shortly after his arrival at the Trauma Center.

Fire Captain David Rosa was a 17-year veteran of the Long Beach Fire Department. His last assignment was at Fire Station 10 located in Central Long Beach. Prior to this, Captain Rosa also spent time as a Training Captain. During that time, he was responsible for teaching new firefighters in the recruit academy and delivering training to all firefighters as they rotated through the training center. Prior to promoting 7 years ago, Captain Rosa served as a firefighter and a paramedic assigned to various stations throughout Long Beach to include several years at Fire Station 11 in North Long Beach.
Captain David Rosa was a well-respected fire officer. He served as a mentor for many young adults, paramedics, and firefighters. He was dedicated to his faith, his family, and to his profession. Captain Rosa’s tragic death has left us deeply grieved and saddened. This loss is profound and has been felt by all members of his fire family and the community he served with dedication and distinction.
