Cannabis Testing Laboratory License
A testing laboratory is a business that performs testing of cannabis goods. A testing laboratory must have ISO/IEC 17025 accreditation.
A testing laboratory is responsible for testing the following contaminants:
- Moisture content
- Residual solvents
- Microbial impurities

Existing medical cannabis testing labs in Long Beach may apply to co-locate (perform both medical and adult-use testing). Effective February 9, 2019, any medical testing lab that applies to conduct adult-use testing at their proposed or existing location must also meed the new zoning and location requirements for adult-use cannabis businesses.
Application Process Overview
If applying for an adult-use cannabis business license, determine your status as an Equity Business through the Office of Cannabis Oversight.
|Step 2||Submit a completed Cannabis Lab Testing Business License Application along with all supporting documents by mail to the Long Beach Business License Division.

|Step 3||After submitting the application to Business License, Zoning reviews the business location for buffers, zoning, and parking requirements.|
|Step 4||Receive a bill in the mail and submit check for application fees.|
|Step 5||Business License will review the application and all supplemental documents for completeness.|
|Step 6||The applicant will receive an email and letter from Business License that the application is complete and can proceed in the process.|
Once the application is deemed complete, the applicant will receive a Letter of Local Authorization to apply for a State cannabis license.
|Step 8||The applicant continues through the Department Reviews & Inspections process.|
Department inspections are finalized, and departments submit their approvals in the online licensing system.
The business license is mailed to the business in 3 to 5 business days.
