Youth Services
The Economic Development Department's Workforce Development Bureau is dedicated to helping Long Beach youth achieve their career aspirations and unlock their full potential. Our staff is committed to empowering the next generation of workers and entrepreneurs through a variety of dynamic youth services. At the heart of this effort is the Long Beach Workforce Innovation Network (LBWIN) Youth Career Services Center, a vibrant and supportive youth center offering specialized career development and job training programs for young people ages 14 to 30.
Our location offer a welcoming environment where young people can map their career paths and gain the skills, knowledge and hands-on experience needed to thrive in today’s competitive job market. We offer a wide range of no-cost services, including:
- Career exploration resources
- Direct connections to employment opportunities
- Intensive case management
- Occupational skills training
- Paid internships
- Work readiness training
Additionally, youth can access vital resources such as supportive services, computers, online tools, telephones and copiers to facilitate their program participation.

Eligibility and Priority Populations
Future LB’s comprehensive youth employment services are primarily funded by the Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act (WIOA). These services are tailored to meet the needs of out-of-school youth aged 16 to 30 who face significant barriers to employment. Eligibility criteria include at least one of the following:
- Low-income
- Involvement with the juvenile justice system
- Experience in foster care
- Homelessness
- Pregnancy or parenting, or a disability
Our location is also a school-to-career partner with Long Beach Unified, Long Beach City College, and California State University, Long Beach. Through initiatives such as the Public Service Corps Fellowship, Urban Design Internship, Port of Long Beach Internship and Fire Corps Internship, we connect students to job opportunities and enhances their academic experiences. These programs recruit participants through competitive application processes that open periodically.
