Release Date: 2016-01-28
Can you help Long Beach make a big, final push to win the 2015-2016 Energy Upgrade California CoolCalifornia Challenge, an online competition to reduce carbon footprints throughout the state? Residents are encouraged to participate and earn up to $3,000 for their local non-profit or school of choice. Now that's a win-win!
Long Beach is currently in second place with 257,659 points; behind the City of Claremont with 591,126, but ahead of its next closest competitor, the City of Burlingame with 205,545 points. Nineteen other cities are participating.
Residents can join the challenge by registering on the CoolCalifornia Challenge website, www.CAChallenge.org, where they enter monthly energy use including electricity, natural gas, and vehicle use through March 30, 2016, earning points for Long Beach. Residents can form teams with each point helping a Long Beach school or non-profit earn prize money.
