Bicycle Infrastructure: Repair Stations

Release Date: 2016-02-17

In the City's ongoing efforts in the city livability arena — to continue to keep Long Beach as a great place to live, work and play — Long Beach will be installing both "fix it" stations and "hydration" stations (or, when combined, "recharging stations") throughout the city!
A "fix it" station is simply a small, colorful unit with bicycle repair tools attached to cables, along with a permanent universal bicycle pump. Cyclists will now have a place to go if they hear a rattling noise on their bike while out on the road, or if a tire is getting low.
"Hydration" stations are basically drinking fountains with a chamber that allows you to fill up water bottles or containers from the top in a very short period of time. Ordinarily, people just lean their bottles against a drinking fountain for a minute or so to fill up.
These will be placed around the city where bicyclists and walkers/joggers are known to congregate. Once they are in, the City can assess how well they were accepted and consider installing more in other areas. Initial installations will be completed by the end of this month.
More information to follow.
