As Mayor Robert Garcia adequately put it, "By the time a disaster occurs, the time for preparation has passed."
Don't be caught off guard! Come to the "READY Long Beach" Community Preparedness Expo which will feature information booths and demonstrations on topics such as:
• How to set aside minimum supplies of food, water and other basic survival tools recommended by Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA)
• How and when to safely shut off gas and water lines
• How to build a family evacuation and response plan
• How to engage your neighbors in disaster planning
Emergency supplies will also be available for purchase.
The expo will also include a kid's fun zone, food for purchase and emergency response vehicles.

READY Long Beach is co-sponsored by Dignity Health, the Port of Long Beach and Southern California Edison. Additional participants includeCalifornia National Guard; Los Angeles County - Office of Emergency Management; Greater Long Beach/Rio Hondo Chapter of the American Red Cross; Long Beach City College; Long Beach Transit; Long Beach Unified School District; Mercy Air; the U.S. Coast Guard and the U.S. Coast Guard Auxiliary; local businesses; and the following City Departments: Long Beach Gas and Oil; Long Beach Department of Health & Human Services (LBDHHS)and Medical Reserve Corps; Long Beach Public Library Services; Long Beach Airport; Long Beach Parks, Recreation & Marine; Long Beach Police Department (CA); Public Works; and the Long Beach WaterDepartment.
