LONG BEACH, CA – It is with great excitement that Councilwoman Megan Kerr announces the appointment of Robert Allarte to serve as Chief of Staff beginning Monday, March 20, 2023.
Robert has served the Long Beach community in multiple capacities and brings a wealth of knowledge to help move the 5th Council District forward. Robert served as Vice Chair of the Long Beach Airport Advisory Commission and most recently as Chief of Communications and Public Affairs to Los Angeles County Assessor, Jeff Prang. In that role he led an award-winning communications and public affairs team that was responsible for countywide public education, community outreach programs, and ensured that all communications coming from the Assessor’s Office assisted Los Angeles County residents in navigating the complex property tax system. Robert also served as Assistant Deputy to then Los Angeles County Supervisor, Don Knabe from 2012-2016.
Robert is a bilingual native Spanish speaker and holds a Bachelor of Arts degree from Whittier College. He and his husband live in Long Beach with their miniature schnauzer.

ABOUT COUNCILWOMAN KERR:
Megan Kerr was sworn into office on Tuesday, December 20, 2022. Her life has been devoted to civic improvement. A highly respected leader, Megan was an active volunteer and community advocate before winning a seat on the Long Beach Unified School District in 2014. Having served two terms on the School Board, she now looks forward to bringing her leadership, her work ethic, and her passion for public service to the critical work of shaping a strong, sustainable future for Long Beach.
No one better understands the interests and priorities that impact community health, public safety, and the quality of life in the 5th District than Megan. She’s been part of this community her entire life. Born and raised in Bixby Knolls, she attended St. Anthony High School and Long Beach City College before receiving her Bachelor of Arts degree in Sociology from Cal Poly Pomona.
Megan leads with integrity, with vision, and with compassion. She knows that people and ideas are a powerful force. As she has done throughout her life, Megan will work hard every day to ensure that this community she knows, and loves will thrive and prosper for many years to come.
ROBERT'S BIOGRAPHY:
Robert L. Allarte is a native to Southern California and dedicated to making the Region a better place for all to thrive. As Chief of Staff to Long Beach Councilwoman, Megan Kerr, Robert oversees all legislative, policy, communications strategies, and constituent services for the Council Office. Robert also serves as strategic advisor for Councilwoman Kerr.
Most recently, Robert served as Chief of Communications and Public Affairs to Los Angeles County Assessor, Jeff Prang. Robert led an award-winning public affairs team, responsible for Countywide public education and community outreach programs. He ensured that all communications coming from the Assessor’s assisted residents of Los Angeles County navigate the complex property tax system.
From 2012-2016, Robert served as Assistant Deputy to then Los Angeles County Supervisor Don Knabe. In that capacity, Robert worked with the Sup. Knabe’s Senior Deputies in implementing the Offices policies and initiatives. Robert also worked as Communications Manager for the Los Angeles County Business Federation, BizFed.
In helping make Southern California a better place for all, Robert serves as a Board Member for HONOR PAC, a non-partisan, mission-driven Political Action Committee dedicated to helping facilitate the dialogue on LGBTQ+ and Latinx issues throughout California and beyond, while advocating for the political empowerment of Latinx LGBTQ+ candidates who in turn support the interests of all communities, both locally, and nationally. Robert also serves as a Board Member for Tomorrows Leaders, Cystic Fibrosis Foundation-Orange County, a young professional’s network to help raise awareness and find a cure for Cystic Fibrosis.
Robert previously served as a Vice Chair of the Long Beach Airport Advisory Commission, where he consulted with and advised the Long Beach City Council in formulating City policies regarding the development and operation of the Long Beach Municipal Airport. Robert received his Bachelor of Arts degree in Political Science from Whittier College and lives in Long Beach with his husband and their miniature schnauzer.
