Long Beach Public Library Summer Reading Program 2016

Every year, more than 5,000 Long Beach residents participate in LBPL's Summer Reading Program. Reading over the summer is crucial for students so they may arrive back at school in September prepared to tackle the next grade. Students who read 20 minutes a day, or just five books during the summer, will not experience the dreaded "summer slide" loss of reading skills. LBPL's Summer Reading Program is fun for the whole family.
In addition to the LBPL's Summer Reading Program, each library location will host a series of special events, featuring comedy and magic, exotic animals, wacky puppet shows, balloon and bubble wonders, Musical Theatre West performances and much more. Check out what's coming to the Los Altos and Brewitt Library:
