LB Health Dept. Rejects Mask Mandate

Release Date: 2022-07-29

Last week, there was speculation that Long Beach and LA County might return to a COVID-19 mask mandate. On Tuesday, the Long Beach Department of Health and Human Services ended the conjecture with this statement: “Despite rising cases, hospitalizations among Long Beach residents remain stable, area hospitals have adequate capacity and fatalities remain low. Therefore, regarding masking, the City of Long Beach will continue to align with the California Department of Public Health (CDPH), which strongly urges, but does not require, masking in most circumstances.” You can read the press release here.
