Addressing Public Safety in Business and Entertainment Corridors

Release Date: 2025-12-08

Item 21: Strengthening Public Safety in Business and Entertainment Corridors

On December 2nd Councilmember Zendejas co-authored Item 21 to help support Long Beach businesses who are facing public safety challenges.

The item directs the City Manager, Police Department, Economic Development and Opportunity, Health and Human Services, and Financial Management to explore strategies to support businesses and residential areas adjacent to business/entertainment corridors affected by crime and quality of life issues and return to Council with a report in 90 days.

Zendejas co-authored this item because she believes that departments need more inter-departmental coordination to address these challenges to improve response, expand visibility, and create clear metrics and transparency to strengthen public trust in her work.
