Creating a Digital Roadmap

Release Date: 0001-01-01

Dear Friends,
Last night at the Council meeting I authored four agenda items designed to ensure that the City of Long Beach is doing its part to create a road map to digital inclusion for our residents, business owners and government facilities. In short, the items ask that over the next 120 days City Staff research the following:

  • Identify communities in Long Beach where the digital divide is the greatest and review existing program to get residents connected
  • Establish Long Beach as an affiliate of the National Digital Inclusion Alliance
  • Create a plan to refurbish and redistribute old computers to underserved communities
  • Understand the number of patents in the City of Long Beach and how to support more residents in obtaining patents

I am proud to say that my colleagues unanimously approved all four items. If you would like to read the items in detail you can

LB MUST Enters Design Phase

Additionally, we approved the next phase for the Long Beach Municipal Urban Storm-water Treatment (LB MUST) Facility which will feature a state of the art building in the first district and over 5 acres of wetlands to help store the water. Stay tuned for upcoming community meetings to discuss design features and other ascetic elements about the project.

My team and I work hard, daily to ensure that the First District is a Fun and safe place to live, work and play in. Please feel free to reach out to my office at 562-570-6919 or district1@longbeach.gov .

All my best,

LENA GONZALEZ
