Homeland Security Grants Program

The Homeland Security Grant Program leverages a suite of risk-based grants to assist in preventing, protecting against, mitigating, responding to and recovering from acts of terrorism and other threats. These grant funds provide the City of Long Beach with the resources required for implementation of the National Preparedness System and working toward the National Preparedness Goal of a secure and resilient nation. The Homeland Security Grants Program funds a range of preparedness activities, including planning, organization, equipment purchase, training, exercises, and management and administration across all core capabilities and mission areas.

Urban Areas Security Initiative

The Urban Areas Security Initiative (UASI) Program provides funding to high-threat, high-density areas to enhance efforts to prevent, protect against, mitigate, respond to, and recover from terrorist attacks.

State Homeland Security Program

The State Homeland Security Program (SHSP) provides funding to enhance our national resilience to absorb disruptions and rapidly recover from incidents both natural and manmade.

Emergency Management Performance Grant Program

The Emergency Management Performance Grant (EMPG) Program provides resources to implement the National Preparedness System and works toward the National Preparedness Goal of a secure and resilient nation.

Regional Catastrophic Preparedness Grants Program

The Regional Catastrophic Preparedness Grants Program provides resources to close known capability gaps in Housing and Logistics and Supply Chain Management, encouraging innovative regional solutions to issues related to catastrophic incidents.

Hazard Mitigation Assistance Grants

Hazard mitigation assistance provides funding for any sustainable action that reduces or eliminates long-term risk to people and property from future disasters.
