How do I update my contact information such as: name, address and phone number?
Log into your governmentjobs.com account. Once logged in, look near the top right of the screen and click on your account user name, then click profile. In the general information section you can edit any of your contact information.

How do I attach Microsoft Word documents, such as my resume, to my online application?
PDF (portable document file) is the only document type allowed on governmentjobs.com. Please convert all required documentation into this format prior to upload.

Can I submit my resume to apply for job opportunities?
Resumes alone cannot be accepted in lieu of a completed application through governmentjobs.com.

How do I stay informed on upcoming jobs with the City of Long Beach?
Q. How do I stay informed on upcoming jobs with the City of Long Beach?
A. There are two ways to be informed on upcoming jobs with the City of Long
Beach.
Option #1 – Complete an online interest card to be notified when the job
opportunity of your interest opens again. You can complete an online interest
card for all jobs of your interest on the Job Descriptions page or for all
categories of your interest on the Job Categories page.Option #2 – Become a subscriber to LinkLB to be informed on upcoming jobs
recruited by the Civil Service Department. Go to
http://www.longbeach.gov/linklb and create an account. Once your account
has been created, go to your Account Settings, scroll to Civil Service
subscriptions, and check the box for “Latest Job Openings”. All subscribers will
receive an email weekly of upcoming civil service jobs. -

ELIGIBLE LIST QUESTIONS

What is an Eligible List?
An eligible list is a list of qualified candidates whom have successfully completed the application process for filling vacancies in the classified service of the city.

When does the Eligible List expire?
These Rules are based on Article 4 Section 26 of the Civil Service Rules and Regulations.
Typically Open Competitive and Open Non-Competitive eligible lists may expire one year from their effective date.
Promotional eligible lists may expire two years from their effective date. Open Continuous eligible lists may expire six months from their effective date.
