Office of Global Engagement and Protocol

Welcome to the Office of Global Engagement and Protocol.

Long Beach is known as "The International City", and we have long embraced our role as a diverse, dynamic, and globally connected community. Through the Office of Global Engagement and Protocol, we build on this identity by fostering meaningful international relationships, coordinating official diplomatic visits, and positioning Long Beach as a welcoming destination for innovation, investment, and global partnership.

Our office leads the City's efforts to engage with foreign leaders and delegations. From strengthening trade and investment ties to advancing strategic partnerships, we ensure these global connections create meaningful opportunities for economic growth and long-term prosperity for the Long Beach community.

Looking ahead, Long Beach will play a historic role as the largest venue city outside of Los Angeles for the 2028 Olympic and Paralympic Games, hosting 11 Olympic sports and 7 Paralympic sports along our waterfront. Our office helps coordinate the City's planning efforts for the Games and leads legacy projects that will extend the community benefits beyond 2028-boosting our international profile and leaving lasting opportunities for youth, small businesses, and arts and culture.

We invite you to explore this site to learn more about our programs, partnerships, and opportunities to connect with the world through Long Beach.
